One thing that’s important to me about having natural hair is having salon quality at home. I typically only go to the salon for bleaching and touch-ups, but never regular styling. That being said, having salon quality products to use in my hair regularly are of high priority to me. The brand was created because Arthur’s hands were getting irritated from them chemicals in the hair products. This gave him the vision to create a fashion forward company, while meeting the needs of the natural consumer. Giovanni is Vegan Friendly, Cruelty Free, Paraben Free, Color Safe and High Performance, all of which are important to me and my color treated hair!
For my daily routine, I start by detangling with a wide tooth comb. This helps to ensure even product distribution. Now since I have natural kinky hair, I don’t wash my hair every day and with these high quality products from Giovanni, I don’t need to. On wash days, I start with the Smooth As Silk™ Deep Moisture Shampoo and the Smooth As Silk™ Deeper Moisture Conditioner. This gives my hair a clean slate to prep for the other few products I like to use in my hair. On non-wash days, I simply dampen my hair. I find this method to work better on my hair. I immediately follow with the Direct Leave-In™ Weightless Moisture Conditioner. This helps my hair retain moisture throughout the day!
I continue with the Frizz Be Gone™ Hair Serum. This helps to add shine to my coils hair, while reducing frizz. It also doesn’t dull, strip color, or damage my hair, which is awesome because of how delicate my hair can be with me coloring it often.
Lately for the final step, I have been mixing conditioner and styling gel and in this case, the L.A. Hold Styling Gel and Smooth As Silk™ Deeper Moisture Conditioner. I find my hair performs better throughout the day by mixing these; however, the gel would be perfect on its own for looser, curlier hair textures. For my kinky coily hair, the more product and moisture, the better, especially since my hair tends to get dry quickly. These products combined are perfect for my hair texture and my hair feels so soft and smells amazing afterwards!
