Why I’m Not Rushing Wedding Planning

There are so many questions I have been getting from family and friends lately about the progress of my wedding planning and I’m honestly tired of repeating the same thing, so I’ll write it here in hopes of the questions ending. So, the main question has been, “How is the wedding planning coming along?” and the truth is, it isn’t at the moment. For one, I have always wanted a nice wedding, not some botched up and thrown together wedding and with that being said, I need to have money saved.

If you’ve known me long enough, you also know I’m not one to ask anyone for any money, and that includes Keshaun. I was raised to be independent and have my own and that’s how I will always be. That being said, if I don’t have it at the moment, I won’t have it until I’m able to afford it myself. Not saying I’m spending a buttload of cash on our wedding, but it will definitely not be something cheap either. I don’t want anything rushed, to ensure I have ample time to get the most and nicest for my money. At the end of the day, the people trying to rush me into marriage aren’t contributing a single dime to our wedding. So therefore, they have no say!

Aside from the money factor, I simply haven’t had the time. Between traveling and working so much, wedding planning is honestly the last thing that has been on my mind. It would be much easier for me to just pass a planner some cash and let them do it all and just answer their questions. I don’t foresee myself having time to do it and I’m not one who’s going to be stressed out either…LOL!

Another thing I’ve been asked about are kids. 😳 Aside from me not being into the whole wedlock deal (as far as I’m concerned, not bashing anyone else), I am more than satisfied with just my stepson right now. It’s truly a blessing that he’s here so I can not only get parenting experience, but to also not to have to commit to having my own. I also have years of experience helping others with their babies (daycare) and also babysitting, so I would be just fine with either way my life ends up in that regard. I’ve had my share of babies and anyone that knows me, knows I love them dearly. Kids have always come first to me, no matter what the situation. (I won’t bring in any controversial current events here, but you should know where I stand on what I’m talking about without actually saying it.) I’m also not a selfish person to bring any into my life when I’m nowhere near ready. Can’t say the same for everyone else unfortunately! So to answer your questions, I have no plans on having kids any time soon. I like my life just the way it is right now and now is not the time to add more to our family, if ever. (And to think when I was much younger, I wanted kids starting at 21 (also wanted to marry young too). Thank God that didn’t happen! 😂)

So all that being said, late this year or early next is when you can expect a wedding to happen; I just don’t know when! There are other things we need to take care of first. ☺️

Planning a wedding is stressful and you want to make sure you do it when you are ready. I’m loving this spring look on you as well!

  2. Hey love,
How are you? Love this! I think it’s great that you’re taking your time and honestly not rushing things. This is a once in a lifetime kind of thing and you want to make sure it’s perfect. I remember that when I got engaged I honestly began planning right away because I just couldn’t wait, but it was honestly so stressful and I realized I needed to slow down. The day ended up being magical and I loved it. You look beautiful girl and i wish you the best luck on your special day!

Thanks for sharing this. I hear planning a wedding can suck. And people are always asking things. Whether you don’t have a bf, or your just dating. It’s always what’s the next step? I’ve come to the realization it’s just small talk. Take your time and do you! Love the outfit
