Inspiration From the Past: How to Style a 90’s Celebrity Favorite

how to wear a slip dress, the beauty beau

I am thrilled to bring you this fresh look! Reaching across two different decades, I created a modern style with a bit of a classic twist. As many of you know, the slip dress was popular in the 90’s. It was worn by icons of the decade such as Kate Moss, Sophia Coppola, and Naomi Campbell.

I have really enjoyed seeing 90’s trends come full circle. It’s so nostalgic for those of us born in that decade. I am so delighted to style a piece of clothing so similar to a fad I idolized 20ish years ago.

I hope you fall in love with this trendy closet staple as much as I have!

One of the many reasons I love this dress is its weight. It really almost feels like you’re wearing nothing! Silk is a fabric that has no give and no stretch, so to be completely comfortable wearing this, you’ll need to be proud of all your assets.

Silk is regarded as one of the sexiest fabrics – it is soft to the touch, and its unique sheen gives off distinctive vibes. It is sexy, smart, and undoubtedly elegant. It screams glamour!

But I wanted to make this look truly chic, and to do that I needed to tone down the statement of the silk a bit and exuberate class.

This beautiful blazer was the perfect way to neutralize and heighten this look. Blazers are known for their versatility; They take you from day to night so smoothly.

The fit of a blazer is extremely important. It needs to hit in the right places to ensure your best features are highlighted. I use a tailor to help me find the best fit and make necessary alterations to pieces I love.

This particular blazer is one of my favorites. The rosey stripes play on the chic feminine lace around the neckline fantastically.

The details of this outfit are simple because I wanted to keep it polished. Sometimes when you’re wearing a dress with a blazer your waistline can get lost. The moon and star belt was the perfect way to create definition in that area.

Not to mention it’s super funky and eye catching!

The varying shades of pink in this outfit really play off of each other. They are just different enough so that they create a harmonious and pleasing visual image.

I love outfits that are memorable and unconventional.

I loved putting my own personal spin on a 90’s favorite! I really enjoyed looking back in time and getting inspiration from the celebrities that pioneered this look.
