MAC Mineralize Satinfinish SPF 15 Foundation Review

Hey everyone!

I hope everyone has had a great start to their week. I just got back in from NYC and we had a blast. It was a trip with my mother and boyfriend. We mainly just shopped and toured different parts of the city. I even got a chance to see where the boy is from and meet some of his family. We really enjoyed ourselves and look forward to going again soon 🙂

Today, I have decided to do my first foundation review. This was my first foundation ever purchased. I got matched to NC45 in this foundation…like every other black person seems to at that place (rolls eyes lol) but this color actually matches me well in the summertime. Like everyone else, I tend to lighten up a bit in the winter and during that time, I am closer to an NC44.

I actually just realized upon searching the description for this foundation on MAC’s website that it seems to be discontinued…typical. Shows how much I keep up with MAC nowadays lol. However, it may be still available in stores and online on some sites, so I’ll still give you guys a thorough review 🙂

From my experience, this foundation is sheer to medium coverage. I used a 109 brush from MAC to apply it up to about a light to medium coverage.

As you can tell by the above pics, this foundation gives the skin a glow. It contains pearlized pigments that enhance the illumination of the skin. In outdoor sunlight, this foundation is really beautiful. It makes your skin shimmer. If this is not your style, SKIP because you will not like this.

As you can probably tell from the above pics, I have oily eyelids. The rest of my skin is very dry, however. From this realization, I can say that this foundation will probably not work the best for oily skin. It creased on my eyelids like crazy and I didn’t even apply much to my eyes. Just imagine if I had gone completely full coverage. In my opinion, this foundation is only suitable for normal to dry skin on its own. If you want to use it for any other skin type, I would highly recommend some type of setting powder, or skip it altogether.

After 9 hours, I only noticed separation on my forehead. This could be due to a number of reasons: expression lines, I have excessively dry skin on my forehead anyway, or this foundation doesn’t wear too well. I honestly don’t think the wear is the problem. If that were the case, I would have problem areas on other usual dry parts of my face.

Overall, this is not really meant to be a long wear foundation or one for oily skin. If that is what you are looking for, please save your money and skip this foundation lol. Contrarily, if you want something light and airy that will give you a really luminous glow, this is for you. I recommend searching high and low at your local MAC store or counter or online since it is now discontinued. It is a pretty nice foundation and while I am sad it’s gone, thankfully I have other foundations that I have grown to love as well!
