Milani Color Statement Lipstick Reviews and Comparisons (Naturals & Browns)

For this post, I will be reviewing and swatching the Naturals & Browns Color Statement lipsticks from Milani. The Plums & Berries WILL be posted by the end of the week. 🙂

Check out the Oranges & Reds here.

Check out the Corals & Pinks here.

Color Statement Lipliners
Milani’s Description – Make a statement without saying a word. True Instant Color. Satin color in one stroke application. This next generation lipliner is a long-wearing, easy-glide formula to line & fill-in your lips. Paraben free.
Candace’s Description – These lip liners are super creamy. They don’t scratch the lip at all. The texture kind of reminds me of the Bare Minerals Round the Clock Waterproof Eye Liners. They glide on like butter, so don’t press too hard or it can break. It’s just that smooth. Awesome texture!

Colors from top to bottom:
#9 – Spice
#10 – Cocoa

Colors from left to right:
#9 – Spice, #10 – Cocoa

Spice – This color is pretty much a dupe for MAC Spice Lip Pencil. I don’t know if this color was named “Spice” on purpose, but yeahhhh. It’s like an orange brown color, perfect to spice up any “too nude” of a color. This lip pencil goes perfect with Candied Toffees lipstick, which I’ll show you later. It is a shade darker than MAC Nice ‘N Spicy Pro Longwear Lip Pencil.

Cocoa – This is a reddish brown shade. It is lighter than MAC Bittersweet Pro Longwear Lip Pencil and more red than MAC Cork Lip Pencil. This shade would pair beautifully with Teddy Bare, which is a Color Statement lipstick that I will show you later in this post.

Color Statement Lipsticks

Milani’s Description – Make a statement without saying a word!  True Instant Color. One stroke, full coverage application. This next generation lipstick gives the ultimate in color, texture and finish.  The lightweight creamy formula contains Vitamins A, C, & E to moisturize and nourish lips. Paraben free. Available in Vinyl, Metallic, Cream, Shimmer, Pearl & Matte finish.
Candace’s Description – These lipsticks are super creamy and moisturizing, as Milani states. It helps to prime the lips before as they have a tendency to slip into the lines of the lips. I have also noticed that the texture tends to ball up if your lips are not pre-exfoliated. Before application, make sure all the dead skin is scrubbed off beforehand (you can use sugar on a wet toothbrush or moisturize with something like Carmex before bed). The lipsticks are pretty longwearing as far as the actual color goes. The pigmentation that shows up when you first apply the color goes away throughout the day, or even quicker if you eat or share a kiss lol. The actual color still stains your lips after it rubs off, which is pretty nice, in my opinion. As with all lip products, from my experience, it leaves a white ring on the inside of the lips as time passes. I just remove it with a napkin or tissue, so it isn’t a deal breaker for me.

Colors from left to right:

#25 – Naturally Chic: This color is super pigmented; it is the perfect creamy rose color. It is a shade lighter than MAC Creme in Your Coffee Lipstick.

#26 – Nude Creme: This color is like a mixture of Naturally Chic and Dulce Caramelo. It is also very similar to MAC Faux Lipstick and MAC Brave Lipstick. MAC Honeylove Lipstick is lighter than this one.

#27 – Dulce Caramelo: This shade is pretty sheer, but buildable. I see it as more of a frost than metallic, honestly. It is frostier than MAC Half ‘N Half Lipstick. This color is not flattering on medium-dark to dark skin without a lip pencil.

#29 – Teddy Bare: This color is very similar to MAC Touch Lipstick.

#30 – Candied Toffees: This is more of a toned down coppery rose color. It is very sheer, so it’s very much daytime and work appropriate.

Colors from left to right:

#29 – Teddy Bare: discussed above.

#30 – Candied Toffees: discussed above.

#31 – Bronze Beauty: This is a beautiful copper lipstick. It would look great as an ombre with Teddy Bare, which is darker. This lipstick is similar to MAC Thrills Lipstick, which was really popular upon release.

#36 – D’Oro: This is the perfect gold lipstick. I wore it in my Batman makeup tutorial, which you can find here. It is super metallic and shiny.

#37 – Chocolate Berries: This lipstick is a brown with a plum undertone which flows beautifully with the name. It is about 2 shades darker than MAC Hot Chocolate Lipstick.

#38 – Double Espresso: This is a really dark brown lipstick with a slight frost, but not overpowering. I really can’t think of anything similar. It is really unique.

Like all the others I’ve reviewed, these are awesome. The majority of them are perfect for those of you who need a variety of colors to wear to work or even during the day. These lipsticks can be purchased at Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Rite Aid or any other local drugstore.
