My Thoughts On Destination Weddings

my thoughts on destination weddings, the beauty beau

I always dreamed of having a huge wedding, one where I could invite a large group of family and friends. There’s a couple of issues at hand with that present-day though. One, I don’t talk with that many girls to have a full bridal party and two, I am not spending my money for a bunch of other people to enjoy our wedding. I’d rather have that money to put towards my closet in my home…haha! All this in mind, I am all for a destination wedding to save time and money!

why destination weddings are more affordable

I used to think destination weddings were more expensive than the traditional wedding before educating myself on the subject, but you have to first dig deeper into the financial standpoint. When having a traditional ceremony, you have to pay per person at the wedding reception. This is my main hangup, let me tell you lol. I have heard that this can run anywhere from $50-$100 per person. That is so far out of my budget, that it’s not even funny. Both Keshaun and I have larger families, especially me, and I am not causing any drama for anyone in my family who wouldn’t get an invite. There would be plenty, particularly due to the extreme costs for the reception. I don’t even want to mention how expensive I heard florals were!

why destination weddings are cheaper
why destination weddings are less pricey

When considering a destination wedding, there are far less prices to consider. For one, you don’t have to worry about as many people wanting to come. I know for my family, many of them won’t even leave Louisiana, much less the country. Also, many of them wouldn’t want to pay for a plane ticket to come either. My idea is to pay for a few of my closest family members to come, if they want. If not, they can just attend our small ceremony when we get back. Either way it goes, you have to understand that it’s your day and no one else’s. The sooner we try to stop pleasing everyone else, the more money we’ll save and the happier we’ll be. Celebrate you and your partner! Anyone who wants to see your wedding can see it in photos and videos! I’m just saying!

I love the idea of destination weddings! Ironically, I just don’t like having so much attention on me and having a wedding farther away would mean fewer people would come, saving on cost and saving me from too much social interaction which is great for me as an introvert.

We had somewhat of a destination wedding and LOVED it (it was still on the larger side) but loved that the people who make the trip genuinely wanted to be there, many of which made extended vacations out of the trip 🙂

My husband and I were going to initially have a destination wedding and I’m so glad we didn’t! It was far too much to deal with and the way we ended up getting married was ten thousand times better than I ever imagined! xo
