GRUB: Le Salama Marrakech Moroccan Restaurant

*I was hosted at Le Salama Marrakech in exchange for media coverage. All opinions are my own. le salama moroccan restaurant marrakech, the beauty beau

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I recently got the opportunity to visit Morocco for the first time with Girls Meet Globe. Aside from that, this was my very first international trip. While I happened to be there, the owner of Le Salama Marrakech Moroccan Restaurant reached out to me, offering to host me in exchange for media coverage. Prior to this, I had been dying for the opportunity to try some authentic Moroccan cuisine, so this definitely came at the perfect time!

mojito le Salama marrakech

Being the mojito lover I am, I started with what I thought was a standard mojito, but it was anything but. It comes in the same sized glass as you would find a soda. You definitely get a lot for your money as far as the drinks are concerned!

APPETIZER
le salama Marrakech restaurant vegetables

As you all know, I’m a vegetarian, part-time pescatarian. As my starter, I selected the vegetable sampler and little did I know that I would actually get to sample everything. If you want the chance to try all the Moroccan flavors you can in one go, this is one way to do it for sure. No 2 vegetables tasted the same, which I really appreciated. I can also say they all tasted way better than I expected. I was expecting regular vegetables, nothing special. Each one was special in its own way. The only things I didn’t like were the beans, which is no surprise because I’m not much of a bean eater anyway.

ENTRÉE

tagine vegetarian le salama marrakech

As my entree, I selected the tagine vegetarian. For those that don’t know, tagine is a very prominent dish in North Africa and is a great way to actually have a taste of N. Africa. I was really happy that a vegetarian option was offered on the menu so I could also have a taste of the Moroccan culture. It was also my first time to find that olives can be cooked (they are the purple ovals you see in the above dish). I will definitely be trying them hot in my dishes at my home now…so freaking good! authentic moroccan restaurant review, candace hampton

DESSERT
orange salad dessert

I completely went out of my comfort zone for the dessert. I selected the orange salad, which has cinnamon and nuts. It wasn’t as sweet as I’m used to for dessert, which is refreshing. It was just the right amount of sweetness after having a not so heavy meal for the rest of my dinner. Mind you, I also don’t really like oranges, but I really enjoyed them in this way!

Aside from the food being absolutely amazing, it was a very aesthetically pleasing environment to dine. I may be a bit biased though because I’m obsessed with cacti! It just goes to show you that everything doesn’t have to be pink and florals to be beautiful, not that there’s anything wrong with that. It was absolutely stunning inside! I actually dined on the 3rd floor, which is the bar area that overlooks the beautiful terrace and Marrakech Medina (below image).

Anytime you happen to be in Marrakech and wish to enjoy an authentic Moroccan cuisine, Le Salama Restaurant is definitely the place you’ll want to check out. The food is delicious, the location is stunning and the service is excellent. I was even fortunate enough to enjoy live dancing and music the night I had dinner here. It was another great way to enjoy the amazing culture Morocco has to offer! ❤️
